The New Year for many means a fresh start, but we often overlook the impact our homes have on our day to day lives. Whether it is having a relaxing space for you & your family to enjoy, or making sure that every inch is functional, do something your home will be thankful for. Transforming the look and feel of your home doesn’t mean you need an endless budget, it can even be achieved with small changes! Whether you are renting, or just moved into a starter home or your dream home, these changes (big or small) can really create an impact!

1) New pillows/blankets
Furniture accessories are a really cheap and easy way to change the feel of your space. Raise the bar with seasonal colours and change pillow cases/throws with the seasons to keep your space feeling refreshed. Warm, fuzzy blankets are great in the winter, but for the warmer months, consider swapping them out for something lighter and more colourful.

2) Painting a wall or two
Painting can completely change your space. Go from a bright and open room to warm and cozy with just a bit of paint. Don’t want to paint the whole room? No problem, try a feature wall! Go the extra mile and add an element of texture and depth with panels. Feature walls are really on trend and are a great way to make a space more interesting!

3) Functional furniture
Some new furniture can really make your space more practical and comfortable. Reduce clutter and try to choose things that have multiple functions, such as a couch with storage space! Having extra storage is always a good thing, and will free up other areas of your home making it feel more spacious than it already is.

4) Renovation of a Major Room
If we’ve learned anything in recent years, it’s how important it is to have a comfortable and functional space at home. If you need more space in the kitchen, or if you’re just getting around to finishing your basement, now is the time to act! Before you start, make sure you plan out how you and your family will function day-to-day if something like a kitchen is being renovated. It’s always a good idea to have a plan!

5) Additions
Without a doubt, this is the most expensive option, but it can really go a long way! Adding extra square footage will truly transform your home. Add that dream workout space, home office, or simply expand your living room for perfect entertaining! Getting quotes, planning, and taking your time with this will serve you well. This is not something you want to rush into – just like renovating, you will want to think about your home-life during the process.
