When the big day comes that you will take possession, you will do what is called a “pre-close” walk-thru of the property. This will allow you to make sure that the house is in the same condition you last saw it, that all work that was promised to be done has been, and to make sure that everything that was to remain with the property is still there. The walk-thru should be done as close to the actual closing date as possible, as it will be your final time to see the home before you give your lawyer the okay to transfer your money to the seller. If all looks okay, you can call your lawyer and tell them to “release the funds”, and as soon as you receive word from the seller that they have received the money – you will be given the keys to your new home!
