Mia grew up in New York but spent every summer of her life on Cape Breton Island. She attended The Wharton Business School and The University of Pennsylvania and graduated with honours as Salutatorian with her MBA from Dalhousie University. A former Financial Analyst at Morgan Stanley, Mia moved to Halifax when she married singer-songwriter, Jimmy Rankin. Mia has managed Jimmy’s award-winning music career and their record label and publishing company for close to thirty years. Winner of the Goldberg-Schulich Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, Mia adds depth and valuable marketing, communication, social media, negotiation, finance and asset valuation skills to the Carolyn Davis Stewart Group. She has also served on the Board of Directors of The Nova Scotia Heritage Trust.
