Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® Valley
What is it?
Since 2001, communities across the world have been holding annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® events to support victims of domestic and sexual violence. A Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event is a playful opportunity for individuals to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to sexualized violence against women.
There is an old saying: “You can’t understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” To get people listening, learning, and talking, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® education Events organize around men literally walking one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes. It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it’s an experience around which a lot of education, self-reflection, and change happens. 100% of all funds raised from the Royal LePage Atlantic Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® are donated to Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and Chrysalis House.
How to Get Involved:
1) Say Yes! Men, sign up as an individual or recruit a team. If you haven’t already done so, please contact Brenda Bishop at 902-681-4663 or brendabishop@royallepage.ca
2) Collect Pledges: Ask your colleagues, suppliers, clients, family, friends – anyone who will give you money to walk around in a pair of heels – to support you with a donation and invite them to attend the walk. All participants are being asked to fundraise at least $100 in support of this very worthy cause.
3) Walk a Mile In Her Shoes® On October 1st!
